Why we're doing this
Meaningful friendships between EO children and families across the world, the kind our kids keep for life.
GLC Kyoto brings hundreds of EO families to one country in the same two weeks. A shared chance to explore, learn and spend real time together.
EO members, partners and children, including families who are not attending the conference.
A MyEO initiative, by members for members. Families choose the experiences that fit their trip; members and partners host them.
Pick what fits your family
They are separate. Joining one does not sign you up for another.
Experiences hosted by families, for families
Shared meals, outings, cultural experiences, a few days exploring together, anywhere in Japan, before, during and after GLC. Parents or caregivers come along; families pay their own way. None are scheduled yet: the first ones will be posted here as hosts step forward.
Organised by member and partner hosts.

Key facts and status
GLC Kyoto, 11–13 April 2027, ICC Kyoto. EO Japan tours and the family welcome evening are being organised by EO Japan.
Learnlife as educator partner for the children's programme, founded by an EO member and running at cost under EO's MyEO rules.
Venue for the programme: meeting rooms at The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike, the hotel next to ICC Kyoto. Rooms earmarked, terms being confirmed.
Programme price US$550–750 per child for the three days, lunch included, paid directly to Learnlife. It runs at cost, so the more children join, the lower the price for everyone. Final price with registration.
The programme is confirmed on 15 November, based on how many families say they are in. Nothing is booked and no money changes hands before that.
Family gatherings before, during and after GLC happen wherever a host steps forward, whatever the programme decision.
Programme: proposed groups 6–10, 11–14 and 15–17 (two groups, 6–10 and 11–17, if numbers are small). Under-6s join family gatherings with a parent or caregiver. 18+ join MyEO Next Gen.
Each family covers its own travel, accommodation and activities. Tours are paid to EO Japan's agency, the programme to Learnlife, gatherings pay-your-own. Nothing goes through MyEO Families.
Three ways to contribute, all of them manageable
Members and partners equally. Most of it is a few hours, with others.
Host one experience
Pick a place, a date and something you'd enjoy doing with your kids anyway. Post it. Families join and pay their own way. We help with the rest.
Help with one task
A half-day shift during the programme, the welcome evening, a WhatsApp group, a translation, an introduction in Kyoto. Defined, small, done.
Join the organising team
Three or four people per piece: the children's programme, gatherings, communication. One call before 15 November, a few after.
Share your plans
Your likely dates, your children's ages, whether the programme is for you, and how you'd like to take part, if at all. Still deciding is a fine answer.
Five minutes. One response per family. By 15 November. Everyone who responds is added to the MyEO Families Japan WhatsApp group, where updates and the 15 November decision are posted. Questions? Message Damien.

FAQ
Are the EO Japan tours the same as the MyEO Families gatherings?
No. The tours are travel packages organised by EO Japan and booked through their agency. The gatherings are hosted by EO families and open to all. Many families do both.
Can I join if I'm not attending the GLC conference?
Yes. This is a MyEO initiative, open to all EO families. Join the gatherings before, during or after GLC without attending the conference. For the tours, check EO Japan's conditions.
Does registering for a tour sign my children up for the programme?
No. The programme has its own registration with Learnlife, which opens after 15 November for the families who said they are in.
What about kids under 6, and 18 and over?
Under-6s are welcome at every family gathering with a parent or caregiver; the programme is for ages 6–17. 18+ join MyEO Next Gen, which has its own activities during GLC.
During GLC, if we don't use the programme, who looks after our kids?
You do, or your partner or caregiver. Family gatherings during GLC are outings for parents and kids together, not childcare. If every adult in your party is in the conference, the programme is the option designed for you.
What does it cost?
Tours: paid to EO Japan's agency. Programme: per child, at cost, paid directly to Learnlife; see the programme page. Gatherings: pay your own way. Nothing is paid to MyEO Families or EO.
Is this an official EO event?
No. It's a MyEO initiative, by members for members, organised by parents and partners who take a role. Damien Bruneau, who chairs MyEO Families, is an investor and advisor in Learnlife; the disclosure is on the programme page.
I know someone in Kyoto, or I'm a teacher, doctor or lawyer. Useful?
